50s & 60s Day
Welcome back from break.
50s & 60s Day is just around the corner.
50s & 60s Day is just around the corner.
50s & 60s Day is Friday, February 18th and takes place in school. The main event will be a 50s-style game show with contestants from all of the social studies classes. There will also be limbo, hula-hoop, and yo-yo contests and a sock hop. Thanks to the generosity of the School & PAT it is free for students.
How to dress. . .
First, look around the house and/or ask some willing family or friends to let you look in their closets. You’ll be surprised what you might find. Below are some suggestions for making a simple outfit look like the ’50s or ’60s:
WOMEN
· Poodle applied on a circle skirt
· Sweater set (esp. with a strand of pearls)
· Cats-eye glasses
· Capri pants (esp. with a big man’s shirt)
· Ponytails (esp. if tied with a chiffon scarf)
· Penny loafers
· Saddle shoes (with ankle socks)
· Little white gloves and a handbag
· Pillbox hat (especially with a “Chanel” suit)
· Mary Janes (with white knee socks and a short skirt)
· Bowling shirt (over jeans rolled up)
· Letterman sweater
· Bellbottoms
· Tie-dyed anything
· Go-go boots
MEN
· Skinny ties
· Jeans rolled up
· Penny loafers
· Leather Jacket
· Sports jacket (or Letterman sweater)
· Bowling Shirt
· Hawaiian shirt
· Bellbottoms
· Tie-dyed anything
